Jewell Allen of Highway 1547, passed away Wednesday November 20, 2013 at the Casey County Hospital, Liberty, KY. He was 83.

Funeral services will be at 12pmCT/1pmET, Saturday November 23, 2013 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Jeff Edwards and Bro. Ricky Hogue officiating. Burial is at Whited Cemetery. Visitation will be 6pm-9pmCT, Friday, November 22, 2013, from at the funeral home.


Pallbearers are Jimmy and Dalton Allen, Robert Abell, Bill England, Darrell Woods, and Jimmy Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Mikaila Fini, Deric Shearer, Kaleb Gosser and Parker Shearer. BR>

Born Thursday, December 12, 1929 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Robert "Bob" C. and Gracie Lee Allen. He died Wednesday November 20, 2013, Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 8 days.

He was a retired farmer and sawmill worker . He was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mable Whited Allen, whom he married January 8, 1949, and the following:
    Two sons: Jimmy ( and Treca) Allen of Liberty, KY; and Dalton Allen of Liberty, KY
  • Three daughters: Peggy (and Bill) England of Columbus, IN; Kay (and Robert ) Abell of Liberty, KY; and Gwen (and Lonnie) Cox of East Hampton, MA

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Fourteen great-grandchildren

  • A brother: John Allen of Lake Helen, FL

  • Two sisters: Eva Sanders of Liberty, KY and Violet Wilson of Burlington, KY
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Waymon Allen and a grandchild, Jennifer Armstrong.
