I cannot say enough great things about the faculty, staff, leadership team, and especially the students at Adair County High School. The last 7 days have been extraordinary!

136 Seniors fill out college applications

Today, over 136 Seniors filled out a college application (in addition to the applications that many of them had previously submitted). According to Ms. Robin Loy, several students filled out multiple applications, and were able talk with college representatives about next steps that they should take prior to official enrollment. It was a highly successful day for our students at Adair County High School.

Nearly 250 people attended science and math night out

Last evening, Tuesday, November 19, 2011, nearly 250 people attended a science and math "night out" designed for students, teachers, and parents. This level of community support for an academic event is unprecedented at the high school level in Adair County.

Counselors and support team help 100 take additional coursework

Just last week, our counselors and support team met personally with nearly 100 students to help them change their schedules so that they could take additional coursework. This will enable the students to take the KOSSA exam which designates them Career Ready. Many of of our students will complete their senior year both college AND career ready.

Community recognized to be "Work Ready" (in progress)

Our community was recently recognized by the Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (KWIB) as one of the first counties in Kentucky to be "Work Ready" (in progress). This was a great distinction for Adair County and will, in time, provide the backbone for economic growth. Without the fantastic commitment by the entire Adair County High School Community, the ever important College and Career Ready component of the "Work Ready Community" initiative would not have been met.

Students continually striving for excellence, re-setting their goals for the future

I hope you and every citizen of Adair County will join me in thanking our parents, teachers, and support staff who continue to provide opportunities and support which allow our students to excel. Above all, let's not forget our students who are continually striving for excellence and re-setting their goals for the future!

Sincerely,

Alan W. Reed, Superintendent Adair County Schools, 1204 Greensburg Street
Columbia, KY 42728
