New signs near Walmart direct traffic better to Cumberland PKY Thanks to Tamra Wilson of District 8, Kentucky Highway Department, Somerset, the signs are up. Signs should lessen the problem of down fences and cows wandering off to Wally World, especially her mom's pets By Victoria Pike New signs have been placed on KY 61 Southbound lane, Burkesville Road, to direct traffic to the Cumberland Parkway straight ahead and KY 80 Westbound is to the right. The new sign has been posted north of the intersection near Walmart. Many travelers have been making the wrong turn for months thinking the first turn takes them to the Cumberland Parkway. Once they make the wrong turn, they are stuck with no good alternative to turn around. Especially the larger tractor/trailer operators. As many as 6 have ended up trying to turn around on G. Bardin road and becoming stuck for hours and tearing down neighboring farmers fences in the night.KY Some mapping systems have the older gravel road going over the hill on the map as well as the newer blacktop. To them it looks like a uturn but actually not. Next thing is they can't get out without assistance. Efforts have been made thought the 911 Center to notify the companies selling this information to correct this so big vehicles won\'t think it is an easy turn around. Recently, I talked with Tamra Wilson, KY Transportation Dept. Somerset, and requested that we needed better directions to the Cumberland Parkway. A few days ago, the signs were put in place. Hopefully, this will help those traveling through our community get to their appointed destinations on time and lessen the threat of fences down and cattle visiting Walmart. Kenny Buck and Lucy might go wild charging things up at Wally World. For those who don't know, these are the farm pets my 90 year old mother. Gertrude Browning, raised on a bottle. Kenny Buck is now 11 years old and could possibly weigh a ton. --Victoria Pike This story was posted on 2013-11-14 15:06:24
