Adair Fiscal CT (Nov. 12, 2013): Large bequest to GRAS

Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton announced a wonderful Christmas time gift to the Green River Animal Shelter. The estate of the late Montra Wethington has been settled and the shelter has received a bequest of $12,821.07.

The announcement was made at the regular session of Adair Fiscal Court, Tuesday, November 12, 2013. The Green River Animal Shelter has an annual operating budget of approximately $100,000, mostly funded by the Court.

The Green River Animal Shelter October 2014 report did not include the bequest. It showed:


  • Animal intakes - Jimmy Harmon 45, Walk-ins 58, Casey County, 17, and Green County 3.
  • What happened with animals - Adoptions 6, Rescue 54, Euthanized 66, Reclaimed 3.
  • Collections for the month - Adoption fees $357, Surrender fees, $110, Donations $140, Rescue Fees, $30.
