LWC Veterans Appreciation Luncheon is Today, Nov. 12, 2013 This year's luncheon will include a special presentation by Richard Powers of Elizabethtown, KY A retired Army sergeant, Powers has created sculptures that honor a dozen Medal of Honor recipients. His latest tribute is to Adair Countian Dakota Meyer, who received the Medal of Honor in 2011. Powers' tribute to Meyer will be on display at the luncheon. Click on headline for complete story By Duane Bonifer COLUMBIA, KY- The Lindsey Wilson College community will hold its annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon at 11amCT, Today, Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, 430 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY. The luncheon is open to veterans and their spouses or a guest, along with veterans' widows and widowers. There is no charge to attend the luncheon, but guests are asked to RSVP by contacting the LWC Alumni Office at alumni@lindsey.edu or 270-384-8400. This is the 11th consecutive year LWC has held the luncheon. Sponsored by the LWC National Alumni Association, it started in 2003 as part of the college's centennial celebrations. The annual event is not held on Veterans Day so it does not conflict with community celebrations on that day. "What started as a small, informal luncheon has developed into one of the highlights of the Lindsey Wilson school year," said LWC Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management Dean Adams, who is an LWC alumnus. "The luncheon is a great way to honor those who served our nation during both peace and war.
