Seven more candidates filed Wednesday afternoon, November 6, 2013, in addition to the nine already listed, bringing the first day total filings to 15. Afternoon First Day filings include the following:
  • Buddy Powell, for Jailer, Republican
  • Rodney Karnes, for Magistrate District 6, Democrat
  • Danny Wayne Goodin, Magistrate District 1, Republican
  • Harold Burton, Magistrate, District 1, Republican (Incumbent)
  • Mark D. Harris, for County Court Clerk, Republican
  • Veronica Mouser, County Court Clerk, Democrat
  • Todd A. Akin, Coroner, Republican (incumbent)

  • Harrison Moss, for Democrat nomination for Sheriff. (Incumbent)
  • Billy Rowe, Republican for Magistrate, District 7 (Incumbent)

CJE preparing papers for filing today

Sheriff Harrison Moss first to file this morning

The first candidate for an Adair County office to file this morning was Sheriff Harrison Moss, filing for re-election, Deputy Clerk Becky Rogers is assisting candidates this morning. At the time, minutes after 8amCT, there was already a line of candidates waiting to file, including two Republican candidates, next in line Justin Claywell and, third, Chris Janes.

First in line to file for County Court Clerk

Lisa Greer Front and Center was surrounded by her family, who posed for this photo as as Ms. Greer was waiting in line to be the fourth candidate to file today. Left is her mother, Jewell Brown and right is her daughter, Ashley Tucker. In back are her father, Gordon Brown; husband Phillip Greer, and son Jordan Lee. Two step daughters, Cheyenne Greer, and Tamara Coomer, are students at Russell County High School. She has two grandsons, Braxton Tucker and Jaxon Tucker, students at ACPC. Her son in law is D.J. Tucker. This her first race for public office.

Deputy Jailer Eric Antle first to file for jailer



2013-11-06 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Adair County Chief Deputy Jailer Eric Antle was the first to file for the Republican nomination for Adair County Jailer this morning. Antle is a veteran employee of the facility and was a candidate in 2010 when he lost to incumbent Jailer Rick Wilson a Democrat. Wilson then hired Mr. Antle as his Chief Deputy. Wilson had announced his intention to retire well before Mr. Antle decided to make the race.

She filed at 4pmCT, Wednesday, November 6, 2013, the first day candidates could do so. She was accompanied by family members, from left, granddaughter Sammi Jo Jennings; husband Danny Mouser; (Veronica Mouser), her father, Mickey Feese; and daughter Kali Tupman.

Election 2014: Todd Akin files for re-election as coroner

Adair County Coroner Todd Akin Center filed for re-election just before the 4:30pmCT daily office closing on the first day candidates could file, Wednesday, November 6, 2013, for the 2014 county offices. With him are Deputy Coroner Tony Bragg, left and Deputy Coroner David Taylor. Akin was the 15th candidate to file in the office of Adair County Court Clerk Sheilia Blair today.
