Scenic Marion Co., KY: Swinging Bridge near Casey Co line Writer's grandfather, Mann Evans, a Civil War veteran, owned adjoining farm and often held parties which drew hundreds of folks in the yard, the men all dressed in their northern uniforms. By Cindy Wilson This swinging bridge was owned by Milford & Louise Evans when I was a child from the 1960's and 70's. I made many trips over that bridge to eat dinner with them. They always had a table full of delicious food consisting of fresh vegetables and cornbread.Marion Co KY Swinging Bridge near Casey Co line They also had a well that we pumped water out of, to drink and it was the best. When they died their son Bob lived on the family farm until his death. His daughter Darci Evans Higgins and her husband now own the property. < They live in Honolulu, Hawaii but come home quite often for a week or two at a time. This bridge is in Marion County just a few miles from the Marion / Casey line. My father's farm joins this farm and this was all actually owned by my great, great grandfather named Mann Evans. He fought for the north during the civil war and had large post war parties. We have photos of the house that he built new with hundreds of folks in the yard and the men dressed in their northern uniforms. Love the photo. --Cindy Wilson Comments re photo 43937 Scenic This story was posted on 2013-11-06 14:35:29
