LWC Women's Soccer defeats Bluefield 3-0 in Columbia Shinada finishes with a goal and two assists in the win By Charles Balcom COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team wrapped up the 2013 regular season with a 3-0 conference win over Bluefield (VA) College Saturday afternoon, November 2, 2013, at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. No. 5 Lindsey Wilson improves to 15-3 overall and 8-1 in the Mid-South Conference. Bluefield falls to 9-7-1 and 2-6-1 in conference play. The Blue Raiders scored their first goal of the day in the 23rd minute when Ayaki Shinada found the back of the net on an assist from Natasha Gensetter. It marks the 14th goal on the season for Shinada and fourth assist on the year for Gensetter. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of Lindsey Wilson heading into the half. It took little time for the Blue Raiders to find the back of the net after halftime. In the 48th minute, Katarina Simic took a corner kick from Shinada and Simic pushed it past the Bluefield goalkeeper to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 lead. The final goal came in the 79th minute as Renee Hurd took a cross from Shinada and put it away to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-0 lead. Lindsey Wilson finished with 25 shots including 13 shots on goal, while holding Bluefield without a shot. Johanna Henrikson recorded the shutout win in goal. Lindsey Wilson will begin play in the Mid-South Conference Tournament beginning on November 9, 2013. The game time and opponent is still to be determined. - Charles Balcom, Liindsey Wilson College This story was posted on 2013-11-02 17:17:20
