He was a native of Casey County, KY. He was the son of the late Calvin Tad and Esther Garner Black. His wife, Virginia Lee Patterson Black survives. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church.

Travis Black, age 85, of Yosemite, KY passed away on Friday November 1, 2013, at the Jean Waddle Care Center.

Visitation will be held after 4pmCT/5pmET, Sunday November 3, 2013, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY. Funeral Services will be held 10amCT/11amET, Monday, November 4, 2013 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Greg Powell officiating. Burial will be in the Durham Cemetery.



Travis Black, Casey County, KY (1928-2013)


Travis Black was born in Humphrey, Casey County, KY on Saturday, July 25, 1928. He was the son of the late Calvin Tad and Esther Garner Black. He passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 7 days.

He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lee Patterson Black, and the following:
  • One daughter: Brenda and (Barry) Wooten of Hustonville, KY

  • Two sons: Gary and (Karen) Black of Liberty, KY; and Greg and (Stephanie) Black of Snellville, GA

  • Grandchildren: Jared and Jeffrey Wooten, Bradley and Ryan Travis Black and (the late Jennie Black Tarter)

  • Great-Grandchildren: Journey, Jenasis, Levi and Laci Wooten and Evan and Mason Tarter

  • Siblings: Mildred Ross of California, Clara McQueen of Eubank, KY; Sherrill Black of California (and the late Margie McCoy)
