LWC Volleyball defeats No. 20 Georgetown 3-1 Thursday NEXT: Lindsey Wilson Volleyball at Union College, Barbourville, KY, Monday, November 4 at 6:30pmCT/7:30pmET at the Robison Arena, 310 College Street, Barbourville, KY By Pierce Yarberry News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - The No. 9 Lindsey Wilson volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over No. 20 Georgetown (KY) to wrap up the Mid-South Conference regular-season title and the top seed in the conference tournament. The Tigers (27-9, 13-3) built an early 10-3 lead in the opening set after a 5-0 run and multiple attack errors by Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders (31-2, 16-0) fought back to tie it up at 22-22, but Georgetown benefited from more Lindsey Wilson attack errors to take the set 26-24. Set two opened with the Tigers committing multiple attack errors, while Alexa Just and Kailey Moorhead recorded multiple kills for a 10-4 Lindsey Wilson lead. Georgetown would battle back to within a point, but Lindsey Wilson went on a 7-0 run and closed out the set 25-17 thanks to multiple kills by Nadelina Nesheva, Mattie Tigges and Moorhead. Both teams went back-and-forth in the third set before the Blue Raiders pulled ahead 17-11. Georgetown's Caraline Maher, Allyson Wilbourne and Corri Muha fought to trim the lead to 23-20, but Taylor Hayne got a kill and the Tigers committed a service error to close out the set. Neither team led by more than two points in the final set until Maeghan Angel's ace gave Lindsey Wilson a 20-17 lead. Angel would add another ace, Nesheva would get a kill and Jesse Collins would add a pair of aces herself to close out the set 25-18. Nesheva led the Blue Raiders with 14 kills while Moorhead added 13. Just posted 39 assists, Kirsten King totaled 16 digs and Moorhead added six block assists.
