LWC Basketball/Men starts season tied for No. 10 nationally

Blue Raiders advanced to national semifinals in 2012-13

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team is tied for 10th in the NAIA Preseason Top-25 Poll, the national office announced on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.

Both Lindsey Wilson and William Carey (Miss.) received 169 total points for the No. 10 spot.



The Blue Raiders finished 32-5 overall and 16-4 in conference last year and won both the regular season and Mid-South Conference Tournament titles. Lindsey Wilson advanced to the national semifinals in 2012-13 before falling to Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas).

MSC opponent and defending national champion Georgetown (Ky.) sits atop the rankings after receiving nine-of-10 first-place votes and 250 total points. The Tigers went 28-8, 14-6 in conference, but fell to Lindsey Wilson 76-72 on Nov. 29 and 91-82 on Feb. 23.

LSU-Shreveport (LA) got the other first-place vote to tie with Oklahoma Baptist for the No. 2 position with 233 total points.

The University of Pikeville (KY) received 205 voting points and sits at No. 7. Lindsey Wilson defeated Pikeville in overtime of the MSC Tournament Championship game last season.

MSC opponents Campbellsville (KY) and Cumberlands (KY) are also receiving votes.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conference and unaffiliated groups. The first regular-season Top-25 Poll will be released on December 10.
