Adair Co. Schools conducts emergency responders round table Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Shamarie Claiborne News from the Adair County School District Thursday October 24, 2013 the Adair County School System hosted an Emergency Responders Roundtable Meeting attended by 30 community leaders representing the Kentucky State Police, Adair County Sheriff Department, Columbia City Police, Adair County EMS, Adair County Fire Department, Adair Search and Rescue, Breeding Fire Department, Lake Cumberland Health Department, Westlake Regional Hospital, as well as Local and Regional Emergency Management representatives. In the schools systems effort to ensure policies and procedures are as current as possible precise communication with community partners is essential. Our educators looked to the experts for input on their individual school Emergency Management Plans and value their experience and knowledge. Topics included the Adair County Schools procedures for emergencies such as fire, tornado/severe weather, earthquake, lockdown procedures, and schools safety and security measures. There was tons of great feedback between emergency personnel and school staff. Each individual school presented a comprehensive overview of their sites safety procedures and up to date floor plans and attendees provided their thoughts on how to make the plan more effective and efficient to work with their own agencies. Robbie Harmon who facilitated the meeting had this to say at the end of the day "A big thank you goes out to all the emergency personnel that took time out of their days to come and discuss our schools and the safety procedures in each...We had some great conversation about what we are doing right and some things we could look at changing...As a result of the work the school safety coordinators are doing and the feedback we received today I am confident in saying our schools are safer as a result of all the caring people within our schools and community!" - the writer: Shamarie Claiborne is Media Publicity Coordinator for the Adair County Schools This story was posted on 2013-10-25 11:05:10
