LWC Volleyball defeats St. Catharine in MSC action

COLUMBIA, KY - The No. 9 Lindsey Wilson volleyball team defeated St. Catharine 3-0 behind 15 kills from Taylor Hayne.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first set before the Patriots were able to tie it at 4-4 on a Casey Stone. Kailey Moorhead made it 6-4 after two kills on assists byAlexa Just. St. Catharine cut it to one at 10-9 before Lindsey Wilson went on a 10-3 run to make it 20-12. The Patriots fought back after a 9-2 run to cut it to 22-21 and tied it at 23 and 24 before the Blue Raiders got two more kills from Moorhead to take set one 26-24.



In set two, Lindsey Wilson jumped out to a 5-0 lead and extended it to 10-4 but St. Catharine continued to fight and tied it at 12-12. The Patriots took the lead at 13-12, their first lead of the match, however the Blue Raiders were able to battle back and take a 16-14 lead.

At 17-17, Moorhead spiked the ball to make take a one point lead. St. Catharine continued to fight back as they recovered from a four point deficit as they cut it to 23-22. Lindsey Wilson took the set on a Hayne kill to win it 25-23.

The Blue Raiders continued to battle a resilient St. Catharine's team as they were tied at 9, 10 and 13. The Patriots took a 17-13 lead after a 4-0 run and continued to lead at 20-16. Lindsey Wilson finished the match on a 9-2 run to take the set 25-22.

Lindsey Wilson's Nadelina Nesheva finished the match with 11 kills and three blocks. Moorhead added 11 kills and three blocks while Hayne finished with her 15 kills and one dig. Just had 39 assists and nine digs in the match for the Blue Raiders.

The Blue Raiders travel to Georgetown, KY on October 25-26 for the Boneyard Brawl as they face-off against Indiana Wesleyan, No. 23 Davenport (MI) University, Point Park (PA) University and No. 1 Texas at Brownsville.
