No. 11 LWC Volleyball escapes Shawnee State with 3-2 victory Blue Raiders rally from two sets down NEXT:The Blue Raider Volleyball team hosts St. Catharine College (KY) at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY, Wednesday, October 23 at 6pmCT. News from Lindsey Wilson College Playing in their second match in two days, the Lindsey Wilson volleyball team rallied from being down two sets to defeat Shawnee State University (OH) on Sunday, October 20, 2013. The competition was held at the Frank & Janis Waller Gymnasium, 940 Second Street, Portsmouth, OH. Lindsey Wilson improves to 26-1 on the season and remains undefeated in Mid-South Conference play. Shawnee State falls to 15-12 on the season and 7-7 in MSC play. Set one saw the Bears hold a slight lead before the Blue Raiders were able to tie it at 13. Shawnee State took the lead again and led by as many as four as they took the first set 25-21. Shawnee State jumped all over the Blue Raiders in set two with a 7-1 lead to start the match. The Bears continued their strong showing to put away the set 25-16. Down two sets, the Blue Raiders began their climb to get back into the match. Lindsey Wilson held a steady lead for most of the third set and eventually put it away 25-21. The Blue Raiders got out to an 8-4 lead to begin the fourth set before the Bears rallied to tie the match at 15. Lindsey Wilson held a 23-20 advantage before scoring the next two points to force a decisive fifth and final set. The Blue Raiders scored the first three points in the fifth set and held a 5-1 advantage before Shawnee State diminished that lead and eventually tie the game at nine. The match was tied again at 10 and 11 before Lindsey Wilson took a 13-11 lead. The Bears came within one at 14-13 but Lindsey Wilson was finally able to earn the match point and the win to put away the Bears 15-13. Kailey Moorhead led the Blue Raiders with 21 kills and a .571 hitting percentage in the match. Sarah Anderson added 14 kills and Taylor Hayne added 12. Alexa Just finished with 51 assists on the day. Kirsten King led the Blue Raiders with 24 digs. The Bears were paced by Paige Zelich with 17 kills followed by Kristi Humble and Devan Scarberry with 11 each.
