Nicols News from Lindsey Wilson College PIKEVILLE, KY - The No. 1 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team defeated University of Pikeville (Pikeville, KY,) 5-1 behind a pair of goals from Renee Hurd and Alice Coyne. The Blue Raiders (12-3, 6-1 MSC) made it 10 straight against the Bears and their fourth straight win on the road at Pikeville. Coyne got the scoring started for Lindsey Wilson in the second minute of the game on an assist by Natasha Gensetter to make it 1-0. Hurd made it 2-0 in the 14th minute from an Emilia Jonsson pass. Lindsey Wilson's Coyne scored her second of the game in the 50th minute with an assist from Hurd to take a 3-0 lead over Pikeville. The Bears got on the board in the 70th minute on a goal from Kayla Scott assisted by Morgan Abner to cut the Blue Raiders lead to 3-1. Lindsey Wilson extended the lead back to three in the 79th minute on an unassisted goal by Hurd, her second goal of the evening. The Blue Raiders Gensetter scored her eighth goal of the season in the 84th minute on a team leading 14th assist from Ayaki Shinada to make it 5-1. Johanna Henrikson made one save and gave up one goal in her sixth win on the season. Lindsey Wilson outshot the Pikeville 18-3 with a 5-2 advantage on shots on goal. The Blue Raiders had six corner kicks while the Bears were held to none. The Blue Raiders return home for senior night as they host Georgetown (KY) College on Tuesday, October 22 at 5pmCT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium in their regular season home finale. - Jay R.
