LWC named Champions of Character Five-Star Institution By Jay R. Nicols News from Lindsey Wilson College KANSAS CITY, MO Lindsey Wilson College was named a 2012-13 Champions of Character Five-Star Institution by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the national offices announced this past week. Lindsey Wilson is one of 221 NAIA Institutions to receive the Champions of Character Five-Star Institution honor. In 2000, the NAIA created the Champions of Characterr program to emphasize character development among student-athletes competing in the NAIA including a scorecard for Institutions to be measured on during the athletic calendar. The Champions of Character Five-Star Institution scorecard is based on five different criteria: character training, academic focus, character recognition, character promotion and conduct in competition. NAIA Institutions with a scorecard total percentage of 60% or higher is labeled a Five-Star Champions of Character Institution. In 2012-13, the Blue Raiders received a score of 72 and helped the Mid-South Conference earn the Champions of CharacterFive-Star Conference award. To be a Five-Star Conference, 60% of the conference affiliates must attain 60 points or more on the scorecard.
