Adair Fiscal Court OKs accepts Westlake Hospital Tax Court acts under threat of being in contempt of court were they not to do so Related: Adair Co. Hospital District BD Special Called meeting as well as: Judge Tapp signs agreed order imposing Adair Co. Hospital Tax Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton, in the last act of the regular meeting of the Adair County Fiscal Court last night, Tuesday, October 8, 2013, brought up an action the court had to take or be in contempt of court: The acceptance - not approval, she noted - of the Adair County Public Hospital District's tax of 10 cents/$100 ($1/per $1,000 assessment; a $10,000 mobile home would be $10/year). When the CJE called for a motion, there was a long quiet - it appearing that no magistrate wanted to be seen as in in favor of imposing any tax. The quiet was broken when Judge Melton reminded the court they had no choice but to accept or be in contempt of court. No sooner did "Contempt of Court" leave her lips, Magistrate Sammy Baker (District 3) , moved with a quick second, and the vote of 6-0 was taken, with all Magistrates present: Harold Burton (1), Perry Reeder (4), Billy Dean Coffey (5), Joe Rogers (6), and Billy Rowe (7) affirming Baker's motion. The tax bills have already been calculated and the bills will be mailed in a matter of hours or days by Sheriff Harrison Moss' office. The CJE noted that the cost of the second mailing will be borne by the Adair County Hospital District. This story was posted on 2013-10-09 07:26:05
