Scarecrow Campaign: Just a thought -might be fun for Columbia

Barry Jones writes:
Good evening Ed. I was watching WBKO tonight and noted they have a Scarecrow Trail at Lost River. I thought it might be fun if Columbia Magazine promoted a Scarecrow Campaign for Columbia and Adair Co. It might spur a little creative thinking and might even stick for a yearly event. Scarecrows are fun and if a sponsor could be found a prize might be offered for people who wanted to sign up officially. Otherwise just put a scarecrow up for the Halloween season and try to promote participation. What do you think of this half-thought idea? - Barry Jones
Sounds like fun - Might even be better to just do - spontaneously, without the contest. Maybe neighbors in one community could do it. Maybe a newspaper or a CM could take photos and interview and word of mouth could get it going and have something really real - without a need to sell "Scarecrow Week" ads, as we media people love to do. - EW

Columbia Scarecrow Campaign already underway?

2013-10-09 - Downtown Fountain Plaza, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Scarecrows already decorate Downtown Columbia. This sentry was posted by the City of Columbia in preparation for the coming Downtown Days and the Chamber's Treats on the Town. Barry Jones sent a thought that a wider Scarecrow Campaign for Adair County might be a good idea.
