Sheriff's Cruiser Hydroplaned on slick Holmes Bend Road Click on headline for story with photo(s) by George Rice By Ed Waggener Sheriff Harrison Moss said that the ACSO Cruiser involved in the mishap Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2013, on Holmes Bend Road in Adair County, hit a patch of water, hydroplaned, and the driver, Lake Patrol Deputy Josh Durbin, lost control and hit a utility pole. Fortunately, he said, Deputy Durbin sustained only a minor scratch. "It was a combination of very days of dry, hot weather which let oil ooze to the top of the road, which made for a very slick surface with all the rain we had just before the accident." The cruiser, he said, is nearly ready to retire, anyway. "It's a seven years old and has 160,000 miles on it," he said. Kentucky State Police Post 15 Trooper Justin Phillips investigated the incident. This story was posted on 2013-10-07 10:05:43
