Opinion: Open, frank discussions prevent misunderstandings A clarification on earlier comment: 'I agree wholeheartedly that the current Hospital Board is excellent and we are fortunate to have such dedicated and experienced talent in such a small community.' - JON HALSEY Comment re: A CM response to critics of the court, hospital leadership By Jon Halsey Personal Commentary I couldn't agree more with your comment: "...needs to be discussed,...". There are too many serious issues in our community that continue causing unrest because we don't want to be seen as "impolite" or confrontational in bringing them up. Open and frank discussion can present various sides of issues but our current posture seems to be to keep as little information as possible from getting out which only leads to misunderstanding and frustration. You make valid points in your response, However, that does not mitigate the fact that for years the Fiscal Court, previous Hospital Boards, and various CE's failed in their responsibility to provide oversight of the individuals they appointed. Rather than "play the blame game" I feel strongly that we must address the reasons for failure or else continue to experience more of the same. I agree wholeheartedly that the current Hospital Board is excellent and we are fortunate to have such dedicated and experienced talent in such a small community. I also sense that there are more such individuals available who would and could get involved if it were not for the prevailing "he/she's one of us" attitude. That last point is poorly expressed, but I sense you know what I'm trying to convey. - Jon Halsey This story was posted on 2013-10-07 07:42:35
