Senatorial candidate Max Wise consults with Dr. Phil
2013-10-05 - 290 Fire Station Lane, Breeding KY - Photo by Ed Waggeneer. Chili Supper great place for Candidates - Serious candidates find Breeding Area Fire Department Affairs must-attend events. Max Wise, an announced candidate for the 16th KY Senatorial District, came early and talked with all. Above, he was getting some pointers on Adair County politics and people from Dr. Phil Aaron, who was Adair County Party Chairman a few decades ago. At the moment, Wise's opposition includes incumbent - since redistricting - Senator Sarah Beth Gregory of Monticello. Wise is assistant professor of political science at Campbellsville University. The counties in the new 16th Senatorial District include Adair, Taylor, Russell, Wayne, Clinton, and Cumberland Counties. - Ed Waggener Read More... | Comments? | Click here to share, print, or bookmark this photo.

Sheriff Harrison Moss, Firefighter Jeremy Garmon
2013-10-06 - 290 Fire Station Lane, Breeding KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. You can be fair certain you're at a premier event if Sheriff Harrison Moss is a early and long staying guest for the evening, as he was last evening at the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department Chili Supper. With him is one of the hosts, Firefighter/EMT Jeremy Garmon. Sheriff Moss also announced his intention to run for re-election next year, another reason to be at the chili supper - though this year's chili supper is only a precursor to what is Adair County's equivalent to Fancy Farm, when almost every serious candidate finds attending, and taking a turn at the mike, mandatory. BAVFD 2013 Chili Supper - It's all about a safer S. Adair
2013-10-06 - 290 Fire Station Lane, Breeding KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. These three pieces of firefighting apparatus are just a small part of the super-well equipped Breeding Area Fire Department's inventory of modern equipment. (See Apparatus at the BAVFD website). Though most of these have come through grantsmanship of the first order - Chili Suppers and Fish Fries aren't the main source of big ticket items - the social events are a big part of giving the organization a margin of financial advantage, give a chance to showcase progress, and underpin the social strengths of a thriving rural America small community. Even without those attributes, perhaps the best thing for casual chili supper goers the event earns the ultimate Adair County accolade, "A good time was had by all." - EW. PS - The impact of the scene enhanced by the firehouse's location to the highest point in Adair County, as suggested in Peakbagger.com. BAVFD - Big player in SC KY 1st response effort/Brandon Harvey
2013-10-06 - Caldwell Road, Green County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. It's never a surprise to see familiar Adair County faces when catastrophic fires occur anywhere in the area. Above Brandon Harvey, Training Officer for department and its chief grants writer on the scene when a spectacular Friday, September 6, 2013, residential blaze (See Fire destroys huge structure in the Haskinsville Community) on Caldwell Ridge Road in Green County drew firefighters from Green, Taylor and Adair County. He's the son of BAVFD Chief Terry Harvey, a full time Campbellsville-Taylor County Fire Deptment employee, and still finds time to coordinate media publicity including promotions for events such as the Chili Suppers and Fish Fries for which the department is famed. BAVFD - Technical Rescue Team training
2013-10-06 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. BAVFD's Technical Rescue Team. Tough training exercises for the work of the Breeding's Technical Rescue prepares them for rescues in dangerous situations. In the fall, 2012, Breeding AVFD and the Campbellsville/Taylor County had a joint training exercise in Adair County. Above, they are rescuing a "victim" from drowning in a huge lake. Fundraisers such as the Chili Suppers and Fish Fries help finance the first response activities. Related: (BAVFD website: Technical Rescue) - EW. PS-Help with personnel ID would be appreciated. Lost my notes from year ago. Read More... | Comments? | Click here to share, print, or bookmark this photo.
