LWC Cycling hosts Mountain Bike Races Oct. 5-6, 2013 Events are scheduled at Lindsey Wilson Cycling Downhill Track, Saturday and Sunday, and at Green River State Park cross country course, Sunday By Pierce Yarberry News from Lindsey Wilson Cycling COLUMBIA, KY- Lindsey Wilson cycling hosts its mountain bike event this weekend, October 5-6, 2013 at Green River State Park cross country course and at the Lindsey Wilson Cycling Downhill Track, 244 Bomar Heights, Columbia, KY. The event features short track, dual slalom, cross country and downhill races. Schools in attendance will include Michigan, Michigan Tech, Missouri, Marian (IL), Lindenwood (MO), Illinois, Depauw (IN), Depaul (IL), Wisconsin and Ripon (WI). Saturday at Lindsey Wilson Cycling Downhill Track, 244 Bomar Heights, Columbia, KY Saturday kicks off with the short track course as Men’s A and B groups start at 9amCT/10 am ET and 9:35amCT/10:35amET respectively. Women’s A and B groups will each start at 10:20amCT, followed by Men’s C and D groups at 11 amCT The dual slalom races close out the Saturday competition, with all categories beginning at 12pm noon CT.The track consists of step downs, step ups, doubles, rollers and rock gardens. Sunday at Green River State Park cross country course Sunday opens with the cross country course, with the Men’s A group riding 24 miles and a 8amCT start. The Men’s B group and Women’s A group, both riding 16 miles, will start at 8:10amCT and 8:15amCT respectively. The Women’s B group and Men’s C/D groups, riding 8 miles, will start at 8:15amCT and 8:20amCT. The course is an eight mile loop that consists of single track with some technical sections and descents. Sunday at Lindsey Wilson Cycling Downhill Track, 244 Bomar Heights, Columbia, KY Downhill races will close out the two-day event and will begin at 12pmCT. The course consists of 1:30-2:30 timed runs depending on skill level and has berms and jumps scattered throughout.
