Maury comments on vines on mailboxes Comments re photo 51653 Is there a prettier mailbox in the county Maury Lewis writes: It is beautiful, but if you are a mail person it as something that attracts creatures such as bees, spiders and in the county, snakes like to crawl up in a vine to get out of the sun. I have always wanted to plant something around my mailbox but an acquaintance of mine sent me a picture, and said "This is why we don't like things growing on mailboxes," and there was a snake laying on top of the mailbox in a beautiful vine. No, Ed, I don't have the picture; it was a very long time ago. - Maury LewisThanks - Thanks for the precaution. But I'd sure take the chance for the beauty of the mandevilla. It's gorgeous. Given, some snakes around here are not pleasant companions, but most are just doing their job, making a living, keeping down the rodent and insect populations, and making, for some good barn cats or pets. Would love to see photos of pink Mandevilla in other settings. - EW This story was posted on 2013-10-03 06:29:36
