Big Day today at Lindsey Wilson Homecoming

Eight individuals will be recognized: The Alumni Association will honor: Greg Hall, Brian Shirley, Jean McLean, B.J. Burnett, Prof. Gerald Chafin and wife Sonja Chafin, and former Blue Raiders and current Tompkinsville residents Shelia Isenberg and Joe McGeorge will be inducted into Lindsey Wilson Athletic Hall of Fame. Homecoming will include reunions for the classes of 1964, 1973, 1983, 1993, and 2003

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College community will honor five alumni and three longtime friends today, Saturday, September 28, 2013, in the second day of the the college's 82nd Homecoming Weekend


The fifth-annual Running With the Blue Raiders Homecoming 5K Fun Run will be held on Saturday, September 28, at the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center, 399 Williams St. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. CT, and the race starts at 8amCT.

At the Homecoming Alumni Brunch on Saturday, Sept. 28, in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, the Lindsey Wilson National Alumni Association will honor three alumni and three college friends:

  • Greg Hall of the Class of 1982, a Tompkinsville, KY, native and current resident of San Diego will receive the Distinguished Service Award

  • Glasgow, KY, resident Brian Shirley of the Class of 1998 will receive the Outstanding Alumnus Award

  • The late Columbia resident Jean McLean of the Class of 1949 will be honored posthumously with the Distinguished Service Award

  • and three individuals will named honorary Lindsey Wilson alumni: B.J. Burnett of Lexington, KY, who has been a member of the Lindsey Wilson Board of Trustees for more than 25 years; and LWC Associate Professor of Music Gerald Chafin and his wife, Sonja, both of Columbia.
Doug Moseley will sign copies of his latest book

Following the awards brunch, former LWC professor and administrator Doug Moseley of Bowling Green, KY, will sign copies of his latest book, From George W to George W, in Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, 430 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY. Moseley's book is full of little-known facts of U.S. presidents from George Washington through George W. Bush.

Two will be inducted into the Blue Raider Hall of Fame

Before kickoff of the Lindsey Wilson-Faulkner (AL) University football game -- scheduled for 1:30pmCT Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Blue Raider Stadium, 828 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. -- two former Blue Raider student-athletes will be inducted in the Lindsey Wilson Athletic Hall of Fame: Shelia Isenberg McGeorge of the Class of 1990 and Joe McGeorge of the Class of 1994. Both of the Tompkinsville residents were basketball standouts at LWC.

Class reunions for 1964, 1973, 1983, 1993, and 2003

Throughout the weekend, reunions will be held for the classes of 1964, 1973, 1983, 1993 and 2003; former members of the Lindsey Wilson Singers, Bonner Scholars; and members of the Golden Alumni Society.
