Plane crash had Columbia ties: Dr. Vengu and Jay

Dr. Narayan Venguswamy was surgeon at Westlake Regional Hospital; wife Jayanthy Venguswamy was talented interior decorator
About: Kentucky couple killed in Chicago area on Wave3.com

By Melissa Stone

The couple who were killed in the plane crash earlier this week had close ties to Columbia. Dr. Narayan Venguswamy and his wife, Jayanthy Venguswamy were known to us simply as Dr. Vengu and Jay. During their time here, he was a surgeon at our local hospital and she was a talented interior decorator and wonderful mother to their only son, Kartik. Many have asked over the years how my son came about such an unusual middle name. Kristopher Cartik is named after the son of a wonderful couple who made a lasting impression.

I have no other information on funeral arrangements at this time.
