Two Hardin Co. men injured in collision on Leitchfield Road

One driver airlifted to UL Hospital in Louisville, one transported to Hardin Memorial in Elizabethtown

(ELIZABETHTOWN, KY.) - On Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 7:56pmET, Kentucky State Police Post 4 investigated an injury collision near the 5000 block of Leitchfield Road approximately 1 mile west of Elizabethtown.

A 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis passenger vehicle operated by Larry Deweese (70), of Cecilia, KY, attempted to turn onto Leitchfield Road from the Dollar General Store when the vehicle entered the path of a 1997 Nissan pickup westbound on Leitchfield Road operated by Aaron Dudgeon (39) of Eastview, KY.



The Nissan struck the Mercury in the front driver's side. The Mercury came to final rest facing in a westward direction in the westbound lane of travel of Leitchfield Road. The Nissan then crossed both eastbound lanes of travel before coming to final rest off the roadway.

Mr. Dewesse was later flown to University of Louisville Hospital with life threatening injuries. Mr. Dudgeon was transported by Hardin County EMS to Hardin Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The investigation into this crash is ongoing by Trooper Scotty R. Sharp. Trooper Sharp was assisted at the scene by KSP Sgt. Greg Hill, Tpr. Charlie Miller, Hardin County EMS, Elizabethtown Fire Department.
