Davids, Pahkasalo lifts Men's Soccer to 2-1 win at Shawnee State By Chris Wells, Sports Information Director News from Lindsey Wilson College PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - A pair of first-half goals proved to be enough for the No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team in a 2-1 win today, Wednesday, September 25, 2013, over Shawnee State (Ohio) University at Shawnee Turf. Yazeed Davids and Aleksi Pahkasalo each scored a goal to help the Blue Raiders improve to 5-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the Mid-South Conference. Shawnee State falls to 2-6 and 0-3 in the conference. While Lindsey Wilson eventually outshot the Bears 18-7 for the match, it took the Blue Raiders nearly 39 minutes before they found the back of the net. Davids scored his third goal of the season off an assist from Xavier Baumgart for the 1-0 lead. Pahkasalo doubled the Lindsey Wilson lead five minutes later off Tom Moody's assist. The goal was Pahkasalo's first of the season. Shawnee State's Chris Wiget made the match interesting in the 79th minute with the lone Bear goal of the match. The Bears would not get a chance for an equalizer as Shawnee State could not managed a shot over the final 11 minutes. Christoffer Gatara earned his first win of the season in goal while allowing the goal and collecting one save. Shawnee State goalkeeper Thomas Carbonari suffered the loss allowing two goals and stopping eight Lindsey Wilson shots.
