Dr. Vernon & Nancy Cherrix will perform piano duets at Ransdell Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Samantha Stevenson News from Campbellsville University Dr. Vernon and Nancy Cherrix will be returning to Campbellsville University for a guest piano duet concert on Monday, October 7, 2013, at 7pmCT/8pmET in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N Hopkins Avenue, Campbellsville, KY. They will be performing works for piano, four hands, by Mozart, Brahms and Rachmaninoff. The Cherrix's have been performing together as piano duettists for over 30 years. They met while Dr. Cherrix was a visiting professor at Soochow University in Taipei, Taiwan. Mrs. Cherrix is a graduate of Soochow University (B.A.) and the Cleveland Institute of Music (M.M.). She has performed in Taiwan and in the United States. In addition to performing, Mrs. Cherrix was on the faculties of the Taipei American School, Payap University and Bluefield College. Dr. Cherrix is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University (B. Mus.), Regent University (M.A.), and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary School of Church Music (M.C.M., D.M.A. and the Performers Certificate). He has performed in solo, concerto and chamber music programs in the United States, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Canada and in the First International Music Festival in Hong Kong. Dr. Cherrix has given master classes in the United States and throughout Asia. Dr. Cherrix's pupils have won local, state, regional and international competitions. The Russian/American Music Association awarded him a special citation for his outstanding teaching ability and as a result, his pupil performed in Carnegie Hall. One of his students was featured on the nationally syndicated radio program, "Music From the Top," a PBS radio program featuring outstanding young classical artists. Last season, one of his pupils was the guest soloist with the Paducah Symphony and the Louisville Orchestra. Dr. Cherrix retired from the piano faculty of the University of Louisville, School of Music. He has been church pianist at Middletown United Methodist Church for the past 17 years. The Cherrix are members of the Greater Louisville Music Teachers Association, the Kentucky Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. Dr. and Mrs. Cherrix live in Louisville, Ky.
