Now is time to update Adair CodeRED information From Adair County Emergency Notification System Take action and be prepared with Adair County's CodeRED Emergency Notification System Adair County and Columbia- Now is the time to ensure you are enrolled to receive critical CodeRED emergency messages from Adair County during September's National Preparedness Month. Notifications are provided at no cost for all Columbia and Adair County residents. Columbia and Adair County officials will send out CodeRED alerts related to any potential storm activity, evacuations and shelter locations making it an essential preparedness tool to stay safe. Those who have already enrolled to receive CodeRED alerts but have recently moved or changed telephone numbers are encouraged to go to CodeRed Community Notification Enrollment/Adair County Fiscal Court "We need to be able to reach our community in case of an emergency. Be proactive and make sure =we have your contact information in the CodeRED database so you can keep yourself, your family and your property protected in case of a real emergency," Greg Thomas, Adair County Emergency Management says. During enrollment, citizens may customize if they would also like to receive general alerts in addition to emergency alerts and how they would like to receive them. Citizens are encouraged to save the telephone number 866-419-5000 in their telephone's contacts to easily identify when a CodeRED emergency alert is being delivered. Those without Internet access may call Adair County Emergency Management Office 270-384-4760 Monday through Friday,8am-3pmCT, to subscribe to receive CodeRED messages by supplying their information over the phone. "Sometimes it takes a nationally recognized campaign like National Preparedness Month to get the word out about CodeRED. Our number one priority has always been to keep our citizens safe. The only way to do that is to get them better prepared and the best way to be prepared is to be informed using the CodeRED system," Thomas said. Citizens are also encouraged to download the CodeRED Mobile Alert app to receive free locationspecific emergency, general and missing person notifications sent by public safety officials as they travel to other CodeRED communities that represent all 50 states and Canada. The apps can be downloaded at iTunes or Google Play. This story was posted on 2013-09-24 09:42:41
