Vertie (Brown) Goode Picking, age 86 of Louisville, KY, passed away September 22, 2013 at Baptist Health in Louisville, KY.

Visitation will be 1pm-7pmCT/2pm-8pmET, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY. Visitation Wednesday 10amCT/11am-12pmCT/1pmET, at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home, 503 E Main Street, Campbellsville, KY. Services at 12pmCT/1pmET, Wednesday, at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Roley Christian Church Cemetery, Adair County, KY.

She was a native of Casey County, KY. She was born Tuesday, December 28, 1926. She died in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, Sunday, September 22, 2013, at the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 25 days.

She was a member of Valley Christian Church and a former member of Highland Park Christian Church.

Vertie was preceded in death by her husbands; Millard Goode and Harry R Picking; her parents Claude and Sadie Brown; three sisters, three brothers and one great grandson.

She is survived by the following:
  • Her daughters: Phyllis Goode Oliver (Charles) and Patsy Goode Booth (Bill)

  • Eight grandchildren

  • Sixteen great grandchildren
  • Five great great grandchildren
The family would like to express their gratitude to staff at Green Meadows Nursing Home and Baptist Hospital Palliative for the excellent care they provided to Vertie.
