Jon Halsey: 1st step to revitalization - streamline local goverment

He writes that is first step Mayor Young took in Campbellsville, and that "Pretty much the same effort we see on the part of the Adair County School System and the Westlake Board of Directors," and, "True leadership is often about making the best use of what you have and in many cases doing more with less," he says, in a commentary we at CM think squarely addresses what citizens are thinking.- EW

"...how Campbellsville did it"

Two words: Vision, Leadership

People who cared and knew how it used to be saw how it could once again be and set about to excite, mobilize and organize in an ongoing, unrelenting effort to continue to "make it happen."

As Mayor Young explained in the video posted on CM, the first step was to streamline local government entities and reduce costs.

Pretty much the same effort we see on the part of the Adair County School System and the Westlake Board of Directors.

It's up to the citizens to put the right kind of leadership in place in the other areas of local government and it's not a matter of looking for someone to come in and "do for us" and it's not a matter of constantly raising taxes.

True leadership is often about making the best use of what you have and in many cases doing more with less.

I find it hard to understand why local officials are not dogging Mayor Young constantly to learn from his experience.
