GEORGETOWN, KY - In a battle of nationally ranked teams, Lindsey Wilson fought back from a set down to upset host Georgetown (Georgetown, KY) 3-1 Tuesday night, September 17, 2013, at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.

The No. 13-ranked Blue Raiders (14-0) keep their spotless record with the 17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-11 win. Lindsey Wilson also moves into first place in the Mid-South Conference as the only unbeaten team at 5-0.

No. 8-ranked Georgetown outscored the Blue Raiders 12-5 to break open a close opening set en route to a 25-17 win. The Tigers (11-2, 4-1 in the Mid-South) failed to commit an attacking error in the set on their way to hitting .323 as a team.

Lindsey Wilson never trailed in set two as the Blue Raiders scored the first five points of the set and 13 of the first 18 in the 25-21 win. The Tigers closed within two points on two different occasions - the last at 22-20 - but the Blue Raiders prevailed to even the match at 1-1.

The pivotal third set proved to be the most competitive with four ties and two lead changes.

Tied at 9-9, Lindsey Wilson seized control with three straight points. Mattie Tigges provided one of her four kills and Alexa Just added a service ace to give Lindsey Wilson some breathing room.

Lindsey Wilson built its lead to as many as five points three different times with the final occurrence coming off a Nadelina Nesheva kill to give the Blue Raiders a 21-16 lead. Nesheva - the reining Mid-South Conference Volleyball Player of the Week finished with a team-high 15 kills in the win.

The Tigers closed the gap to 22-20, but Sarah Anderson, Taylor Hayne and Kailey Moorhead each provided a kill as the Blue Raiders closed the set scoring three of the final four points for a 25-21 win. Hayne finished with 13 kills while Anderson chipped in 10 kills without an error to hit .400 in the match.

Lindsey Wilson dominated the decisive set from start to finish.

The Blue Raiders scored the first four points of the set thanks to three straight service aces by Just. She ended the match posting a double-double (41 assists and 13 digs) while adding six aces.

Georgetown closed within three (6-3) thanks to Caraline Maher - who finished with a team-high 15 kills - but would get no closer in the set.

Lindsey Wilson methodically extended its lead until it doubled up the Tigers 18-9 following a Tigges spike. The Blue Raiders closed the match by winning seven of the final nine points for a 25-11 set win and a 3-1 match win.

Moorhead just missed double-digit kills with nine while posting a .333 attacking percentage. Maeghan Angel (18) and Kala Meservey (11) joined Just with double figure digs.
