Conway announces arrest of Pine Knot man for Patient Neglect Alleged patient abuse occurred at Oakwood Manor in Somerset, KY By Daniel Kemp News from Attorney General Jack Conway's office (Tuesday, September 17, 2013) - Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway announced the arrest of Coty King from Pine Knot, KY on two counts of knowing neglect of a vulnerable adult in violation of KRS 209.990(2). King, 22, was arrested yesterday at his place of employment, Oakwood Manor in Somerset. Investigators from the Office of the Attorney General's (OAG) Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control Division made the arrest. King is charged with enticing one developmentally disabled adult patient at the facility to hit another disabled patient at the facility and recording video of the incident on his cellular telephone. Personnel at the Oakwood Manor facility notified an investigator with the OAG Department of Criminal Investigators Monday morning, September 16, 2013, after learning about the incident. "Our office took swift action immediately after learning of the incident," General Conway said. "I appreciate the work of my investigators to work with local law enforcement to protect some of our Commonwealth's most vulnerable citizens. This type of alleged abuse will not be tolerated. " Pending his arraignment, King was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center. The Somerset Police Department assisted in providing transport of King to the jail. Violations of KRS 209.990(2) are Class C felonies punishable by up to five to 10 years in prison. All persons accused of a crime are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
