No. 1 LWC defeats Westminster College 2-0, Sept. 14, 2013

Nations Top NAIA Women's Soccer Team, the Blue Raiders, finish 2-0 in the Lindsey Wilson Stanno Classic. Blue Raider women now 5-1-0 for the season!

COLUMBIA, KY - The No. 1 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team defeated Westminster College of Salt Lake City (Utah) 2-0 in their second game of the Lindsey Wilson Stanno Classic Saturday night, September 14, 2013 at *Walter S. Reuling Stadium in Columbia.



The Blue Raiders (5-1-0) were able to put pressure on the Griffins in the early moments of the first half as they got an unassisted goal by Anna Vig in the 6th minute of play to make it 1-0.

Lindsey Wilson held Westminster without a shot until the 43rd minute of the first half as the Blue Raiders outshot the Griffins 5-1 in the half.

Westminster (3-5-0) kept pace with Lindsey Wilson as 73 minutes went off the clock before the Blue Raiders were able to make it a two goal game in the 79th minute. Jamie Stanton broke free in the 18-yard box after a nice touch pass from Michela Bengtsson and put it past a diving Abi Yanke to make it 2-0.

Lindsey Wilson's Lina Jepsen started her first game of the season in net and blanked the Griffins with three saves.

Stanton and Vig finished the game with four shots each, two each on goal for the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson had six corner kicks while Westminster College was held to none.

On day two of the Lindsey Wilson Stanno Classic No. 14 Martin Methodist defeated Indiana Wesleyan 4-0 in first game of the day.

The Blue Raiders begin Mid-South Conference play at 6 p.m. CT on September 18 at Campbellsville (KY) University.
