Adair County Fire Department extracts trapped wreck victim

Green Countian trapped in 2004 Nissan Frontier following collision with 2002 Dodge Ram at Holmes Bend Campground near Green River Lake. Trapped driver taken to WRH; other driver was not hurt. Traffic on Holmes Bend Road was brought to a standstill while first responders worked and got the roadway clear.

A two vehicle collision occurred on Holmes Bend Road, Friday 13, 2013 just after 5pmCT. The accident occurred when James David Jones 48, of Columbia had begun to back out of a driveway onto Holmes Bend Road opperating his 2002 Red Dodge Ram when Floyd Ray Truax 59, of Green County, KY, was traveling north bound on Holmes Bend Road in the direction of Holmes Bend Campground in his 2004 Green Nissan Frontier and collided with Jones.



The force of the impact rolled Truax and his vehicle onto the opposing lane where the vehicle came to rest on the drivers side. Truax had to be extracted from the vehicle by The Adair Fire Department by cutting out the roof of the truck.

He was then taken to Westlake for possible injuries. Jones was not hurt in the accident.

Traffic was brought to a standstill while first responders worked and got the roadway clear. Deputy Adam Cravens investigated the wreck. KSP, Adair Fire, Adair Search and Rescue, and Adair EMS all responded. - Deputy Adam Cravens
