LWC Volleyball improves to 12-0 with sweep of Rio Grande Lindsey Wilson remains unbeaten on the season By Charles Balcom News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball continues to roll as they swept Mid-South Conference opponent Rio Grande (Rio Grande, Ohio) on Thursday night, September 12, 2013 at *Biggers Sports Center, Columbia. The No. 15-ranked Blue Raiders improve to 12-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Mid-South with the 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 win. Rio Grande falls to 1-4, 0-3 in conference play. With the win, the Blue Raiders extend their program best start to 12 straight. Lindsey Wilson took control of the first set early and was able to put together batches of points to extend their lead, including a 3-0 run to finish out the set. The Red Storm took their first lead of the day to open set two. The teams battled back and forth until the set was tied, 8-8. The Blue Raiders proceeded to score 10 of the next 11 points with the help of three aces by Nadelina Nesheva to push their lead to 18-9, finishing the set at 25-15. In the third set, Lindsey Wilson broke a 4-4 tie with a kill by Taylor Hayne and never looked back. The Blue Raiders continued their relentless assault and finished off the Red Storm, 25-16. The Blue Raiders were led on the offensive front by Nesheva, who recorded 21 of the 47 kills by Lindsey Wilson in the match with a .731 hitting percentage. Hayne finished with nine kills and two blocks on the night. Kailey Moorhead and Sarah Anderson each had six kills and three blocks in the win. Alexa Just led the team with 32 assists and six digs. Rio Grande finished the match with a hitting percentage of just .063 while committing 14 errors in the loss.
