Cumberland Falls is more significant than ever now! It's now the only place in Western Hemisphere where Moonbow phenomenon can be seen and remains one of the few places in entire world one By Jon Halsey CM readers might not know that Cumberland Falls is not only one of the few places in the world to see a Moonbow but it is now the only place in the Western Hemisphere to view this phenomenon. Yosemite Falls was such a site but a earthquake resettled the rocks and the resulting spray in such a way that moonbows are no longer formed. My limited knowledge of Moonbows suggests that they are only visible on clear nights during the 5 day period of a full moon. (2 nights prior, night of and 2 nights after.) I've heard successful photographers say that a tripod is a must and long (30 sec) exposures with 400 or higher film at a low f-stop is the way to go. Another interesting fact is that you won't see the colors until the film is developed. With the naked eye, it appears as a gray arc. - Jon Halsey Comments re article 61805 Likes Doyle Lloyd version of Cumberland Falls This story was posted on 2013-09-09 16:33:12
