Rotary Speaker today is bike enthusiast Columbia Rotary Club regular luncheon meeting: Welcome District Governor Ed Kalmey speaker today once road from San Diego, CA to Kittery, Maine on a bicycle (In just 58 days) Columbia Rotary meets 2nd & 4th Mondays (Recurring Event) at Lindsey Wilson College's Roberta Cranmer Dining Center, 430 Helen Flatt DR, Columbia, KY Special to ColumbiaMagazine.com Ed has been a member of the South Oldham Rotary Club since 1995. He served as president in 2007-2008 and has been the Club's GSE Chairman numerous times. He and his wife, Judy, as well as their three children and their spouses are all Paul Harris Fellows. Ed is a graduate of Bellarmine University and, from graduation to retirement, worked for Kraft Foods. In those 34 years he rose through the ranks from a salesman in the rural areas of Kentucky to Vice President of Sales for Kraft's Dairy Division. Ed and Judy have 3 grown children, 6 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. They spend their retirement days volunteering for various organizations. Ed can be found serving on the Board of the Oldham County GREENWAYS, and volunteering at the YMCA. He and Judy have served on the District RYLA Planning Committee and have been counselors at the RYLA Weekend multiple times. When time allows, they love international travel and culture studies. Having had high school age exchange students living in their home on 3 different occasions and two of their own children having been exchange students has helped to make them avid supporters of Rotary's Group Study Exchange program. In fact, Ed served as the GSE Chair for District 6710 for four years and they have been a host family for many GSE Teams throughout the years. Ed enjoys keeping busy, but to relax, he enjoys fishing, golfing and bicycling. In fact, in 2007, he and 4 other guys rode their bicycles 3000 miles across the USA (from San Diego, Ca. to Kittery, Maine) in 58 days.
