2013 Homeplace Festival has 25 artists, crafters scheduled Fall Heritage Festival at Homeplace on Green River, 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY, will be 8am-4pmCT/9am-5pmET Saturday, September 7, 2013. By George Kolbenschlag News from Homeplace on Green River More than 25 artists and crafters will descend on Homeplace on Green River Saturday, September 7, 2013, for the farm's annual Fall Harvest Festival. This will be the largest collection of artistic talent to participate since the Festival began in 2007. Their products will include a variety of Kentucky hand-crafted wares including miniature wood buildings, handmaid game boards, horseshoe art, hand tooled wooden bowls from local woods, jewelry, homemade soaps and lotions, hair bows, painting, photography and note cards to name a few item that will be for sale and on display. A number of the participants will also be giving demonstrations of their talents including pottery, making tiles from bricks, blacksmithing, woodworking and other arts and crafts. There will also be information on animal care and adopting pets, recycling, energy conservation and sustainable energy sources, the use of horses in child therapy, driving safety and other exhibitions. The Saturday festival offers a day of family activities in addition to the arts, crafts, exhibitions and demonstrations. There will be a barrel train, petting zoo, face painting, corn husk crafting, hay rides, mule teams, food vendors and a variety of other activities. There is no admission charge, but there is a $1 charge for some of the rides. A portion of the new, well-marked trail system on the adjacent Tebbs Bend/Green River Nature Area will be open with direct access from Homeplace. Both self-guided walks and guided walk will be available. There will be a $1 charge for guided walks. Homeplace is an historic farm first settled in 1804 and is a cooperative effort by Adair, Green and Taylor counties to preserve the rich agricultural heritage of south central Kentucky.
