Alfred Jones Thomas, Adair Co., KY (1920-2013)

He was a native of Adair County and a resident at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Earnest and Martha Jones Thomas. He leaves 9 direct living descendants spanning three generations and three step descendants. Mr. Thomas was retired after 30 years at Ford Motor Company Louisville, KY and was a farmer in the Cundiff and Montpelier areas of Adair Co., he was a US Army World War II veteran where he served in Guam, and will be accorded full military honors at interment by Columbia VFW Post 6097.

Alford Jones Thomas, age 93 of Zion Community of Adair County, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 8:35pmCT, at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY.

Funeral service: Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 2pmCT/3pmET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Interment in the Zion Cemetery, 64 Montpelier Road, Columbia, KY with full military honors by Columbia VFW Post 6097. The family request visitation after 10amCT/11amET, on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

He was born in Adair County on July 17, 1920. He was the son of the late Earnest and Martha Jones Thomas. He died Tuesday, September 3, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 93 years, 1 month, and 17 days.

Mr. Thomas was retired after 30 years at Ford Motor Company Louisville, KY and was a farmer in the Cundiff and Montpelier areas of Adair County. He was a US Army World War II veteran where he served in Guam.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two daughters: Wanda Watson of Louisville, KY; and Elaine Thomas of Louisville, KY

  • One stepson: Mitch Harvey of Smiths Grove, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Adam Watson, Christopher Scott Thomas and Brian Thomas

  • Four great grandchildren

  • Two step granddaughters: Keirsten Jaggers and Leah Smith

  • Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends
