Adair School District receives $25,841. Crusade Grant Money will help fund a speech therapist for the district Click on headline for story with photo/s By Shamarie Claiborne, Media Publicity Coordinator News from the Adair County School District This year marked the 60th Anniversary of the WHAS Crusade for Children telethon. As many of you know local fire department's work together to raise money for children with special needs in the State of Kentucky. In our case the Columbia/Adair Fire Department, Knifley Fire Department, and Breeding Fire Departments work for the betterment of the Adair County special needs children enrolled in the School District. Each school district must write a grant that explains how funds will be used and the benefit to children with special needs before funding is granted. The Adair County School District is proud to announce we have received our 2013 WHAS Crusade for Children Award in the amount of $25,841.00. The funds will be utilized to help fund a speech therapist position. Our district would like to give special thanks to the Columbia/Adair Fire Department, Knifley Fire Department, and the Breeding Fire Department for all their hard work and dedication to the children of Adair County over the years and for once again helping students with special needs. Anita Goode the Director of Special Education for the Adair County School System was thrilled with this year's award and stated "We are truly grateful for this year's funding. The community's generosity is always overwhelming. Without the hard work and dedication of our local fire departments and everyone who supports the special needs children of Adair County this would not be possible. A huge thanks to everyone involved for another successful Crusade." This story was posted on 2013-09-04 10:47:32
