CU to host president of Kentucky Baptist Convention Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Kasey Ricketts News from Campbellsville University Dr. Dan Summerlin, president of the Kentucky Baptist Conventionwill speak at Campbellsville University's Ransdell Chapel, 401 N Hoskins, Campbellsville, KY during chapel at 9amCT/10amET, Wednesday, September 11, 2013. The public is welcome to attend. Dr. Summerlin is also pastor of Lone Oak First Baptist Church in Paducah, KY. Summerlin has served as president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention (KBC) since 2012. He is a member of the executive committee of the Southern Baptist Convention, a position he'd held since 2010. He served as vice president of the KBC from 2010 and 2011. He has served as chairman of the cooperative program development committee of the executive committee of the Southern Baptist convention since 2012. Summerlin has served as a trustee at the Western Recorder since 2010, and he is a member of the Evangelical Philosophical Society, having served since 2007. He has been the pastor at Lone Oak First Baptist Church since 2002. He has served as pastor at three other churches including: University Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL, Big Sandy Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, AL, and Elmo Baptist Church in Roxie, MS Summerlin graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1977. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1981 where he earned his bachelor of science degree in psychology. He did postgraduate study at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and earned his master of divinity in 1985 and doctor of theology in 1991.
