News from the Adair County School District

The Adair County School System is proud to spotlight Mr. Mike Mantooth, currently an instructional aide at Adair County Elementary School and the new Adair County High School Baseball Coach.

Mr. Mantooth is originally from Mt. Juliet, TN. He attended Lindsey Wilson College where he played shortstop for the Blue Raider Baseball Team. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelors degree in Social Science.

After graduation, Coach Mantooth was hired as the Assistant Coach for the Blue Raiders. While coaching at LWC he started taking graduate classes in Special Education at the University of the Cumberlands. Coach Mantooth is hoping to graduate in 2014 while he continues to teach and coach.

Coach Mantooth is married to our own Robyn Mantooth, an English teacher at the Adair County High School. They have two wonderful daughters: Olivia, 4 and Sadie, 10 months.

When asked about the transition from LWC to the Adair County School System Coach Mantooth was full of gratitude and stated "I am so grateful to Mr. Reed for the opportunity to teach and coach in this district. He has been great throughout this entire process. I'd also like to thank Mr. Young and Mr. Campbell. Their support and willingness to help, has been incredible. This community is filled with a lot of great people who support the entire Adair Co. athletic dept. and school system. That is what excites me about the position I'm in."

Coach Mantooth also commented on the upcoming year and the Adair County Baseball Program as a whole. "The first year is always the toughest because it's new to everybody involved. The players have to learn a new way and I have to learn a new way. If all parties are willing to learn and willing to buy in then we will be fine. This program is not just about baseball. It's about getting everybody (from little league to high school) to buy into the process. The process starts with our expectations, standard, and what we stand for."

On a personal note Mike stated "Lastly, I want to thank my wife for her continued support throughout this transition."

It is easy to see why we have high hopes for Coach Mantooth and his success not only on the baseball field but in the classroom as well. Welcome to the team Coach! - Shamarie Claiborne
