CVE Investigating Truck accident involving Haz-Mat Spill

Driver flown to Vanderbilt from scene of accident in Allen County, KY. KY 100 likely to be closed until after midnight

Kentucky State Police Post 3, Bowling Green, KY, is investigating an early morning truck accident that leaves KY100 in Allen county closed for approximately 7 hours.



According to Officer Brandon Ford at 0530 hours, Thursday, August 29, 2013, a tractor and trailer cargo tank loaded with retail diesel fuel left the roadway near the 4 mile point.

The combination vehicle owned by Key Fuel/Service Transport was being operated by a John Mcgraw of Spring Hill Tennessee.

According to preliminary investigation the commercial vehicle left the right shoulder, continued through a fence, struck a utility pole; then overturned multiple times.The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.

He was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville with head and chest injuries. As a result of the accident several hundred gallons of diesel fuel was spilled requiring assitance from the EPA and Environmental Services. The investigation is on going, however inattention and speed appear to be contributing factors. - Jared Newberry
