Career Fair, other events planned for ACHS 11th-12th Graders

The Adair County High School, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY will be holding a career fair in the gym for 11th and 12th grade students on 9am-11amET, Friday, September 27, 2013, This will mark the end of Career Awareness Week, September 23-27, 2013.

During the week there will be a variety of activities going on to increase student knowledge of possible career paths and the training required to be successful. They include:


Monday, September 23, 2013: College Info Road Show and Informational Panels Day
Students will be able to board the mobile outreach unit from KHEAA to hear a brief overview on financial aid assistance and will create or access their GoHigherKY.org account for access to career assessments, test prep, scholarship searches, and more.

Students will also be exposed to a variety of presentations to expand their knowledge of different post-secondary educational experiences and training, service and volunteering, experts will discuss the application process and financial aid, as well as presentations on work force expectations and opportunities.

Parent Night at 6pmCT, Monday, September 23, 2013 at Adair County High School, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, kY:This will be an information session for parents on the college experience, the application process, and financial aid. A financial aid expert will also be on hand to answer your questions.

Tuesday, September 24, 2013: Regional College Fair, in Campbellsville University's Powell Athletic Center, 203 Tiger Way, Campbellville, KY Most Kentucky Colleges and Technical Centers will be represented.

Wednesday/Thursday, September 25-26, 2013: Fast Forward to Work Program & Individual Learning Plans. Students will receive instruction on research based job skills and traits valued by employers. In addition, they will focus on completing the career assessment section of their individual learning plan.

Friday, September 27, 2013. Career Fair, 9amCT-11pmCT, at the Adair County High School gym, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. A wide variety of community members with different career backgrounds will be on hand to talk to students about their training, job opportunities in their fields, and discussing how to take advantage of opportunities when they are presented. The idea behind the ACHS Career Fair is to connect students with the community and expose them to the wide variety of jobs available in the area. Keep in mind you will need to bring any relevant information or tools of the trade that you can share with the students. We will provide tables, and name plates with job title, to each participating individual.
