17-year-old arrested after fleeing police at speeds over 100 mph Incident starts on US 31 E. White Dodge Pickup located, abandoned in field behind owners house. Barren County, KY teenage driver, admits to having two other passengers in vehicle at the time of incident. By Jared Newberry, Public Affairs Officer Kentucky State Police, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE), Region 2, Louisville, KY A Barren County teen has been arrested and charged in an early morning high speed pursuit. At 12:42 CT, August 23, 2013, KY State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officer Bryan Jones was on routine patrol when he observed a white Dodge pickup truck travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on US 31 E. Officer Jones intiated emergency equipment and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued on at a high rate of speed for several miles, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour; before contact with the vehicle was lost and the pursuit was terminated. The registered owner's information was obtained and KY State Police was assisted by the Barren County Sheriff's department in locating the vehicle. The vehicle was found a short time later abandoned in a field behind the owner's residence. The teenage driver was located inside the residence and admitted to having 2 other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the incident. The driver, a 17 year old male was arrested and charged with fleeing/evading police and wanton endangerment. This story was posted on 2013-08-24 12:27:39
