Columbia man arrested on multiple charges following traffic stop

Dewayne Melson, 43, lodged in Adair County Regional Jail. Two outstanding warrants of arrest from Adair District Court and Knox County District Court served

Columbia Police Department arrested Adair County man on drug charges and multiple warrants after traffic stop in the limits of Columbia, KY, today, August 23, 2013. At approximately 4:54pmCT, CPD Ofc. Josh Brockman initiated a traffic stop around the 900 block of Jamestown Street on a Green 1997 Buick for a moving violation.

The Buick was operated by 43 year old Dewayne Melson of Columbia, KY. As a result of the traffic stop Melson was arrested on charges of Improper Signal, Operating a Motor Vehicle on a Suspended License, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container. Additionally officers served 2 outstanding Warrants of Arrest from Adair County District Court and 1 from Knox County District Court. Melson was lodged in Adair County Regional Jail by Ofc. Josh Brockman and Det. Tracy McCarol. - Ofc. Josh Brockman
