Alan Herbst, a member of Penn Medicine’s 248th class, graduated from Adair County High School in 2006. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2010. Alan is the son of David and Rosie Herbst. Penn's incoming class hails from 33 states and 56 colleges from around the country. During the event, students were individually garbed in white clinicians’ coats, a vivid symbol of the medical profession, in the presence of family, friends, and faculty. At the conclusion, the entire class recited the Hippocratic Oath, pledging to treat the ill to the best of their abilities, preserve each patient's privacy, and to teach the secrets of medicine to the next generation.
