Homeplace Festival offers more in 2013 By George Kolbenschlag News from Homeplace on Green River The annual Fall Heritage Festival at Homeplace on Green River, 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY, will be 8am-4pmCT/9am-5pmET Saturday, September 7, 2013. This year's Festival will feature both new activities and continuation of the most popular activities from prior years. As in the past the festival will be family oriented and there is no charge for admission. New activities includes marked trail to cave and spring, more New activities this year are a well-marked trail to the cave and springs that includes guided walks, a pedal tractor pull for the youngsters, more food vendors, and several new exhibitions and demonstrations. Popular features will return, too The barrel train, petting zoo, pony rides, hay rides, mule wagon rides, face painting, games for the kids, arts and crafts sales and other activities, demonstrations and exhibitions will return this year. There will be a $1 charge for some of the rides but many of the activities are free. The usual BBQ, tenderloin and pulled pork will be available from several vendors. There will also be a hot dog stand for a quick bite and pinto beans and fried potatoes cooked over an open fire with corn bread. Plenty of live music throughout the day There will be live music from 10am-3pmCT/11am-4pmCT, including Voices of Praise, The Foster Children, Potter's Clay of Lexington, Neal Sneed and Friends, The Exie Bluegrass Boys and Mary Kutter of Lebanon. Popular photography workshop - free - with LWC Prof. David Goguen A photography workshop led by Lindsey Wilson Journalism Professor David Goguen is scheduled again this year. There is no charge. If you would like to join in this workshop contact Professor Goguen at goguend@ lindsey.edu or call 270-384-8241. You will need to bring your own digital camera. Vendors/Exhibitors can still reserve space If you wish to exhibit and/or sell your locally made arts and crafts contact Vonnie Kolbenschlag to reserve space. Heritage Festival showcases the farm and its many benefits The annual Homeplace Heritage Festival showcases the farm and its many benefits. Homeplace is an outdoor classroom open year around for hiking, picnics, bird watching and other outdoor activities. The farm offers many opportunities for artists and photographers. Homeplace is located at 5807 New Columbia Road, (Highway 55) between Columbia and Campbellsville and is a joint operation of Adair, Green and Taylor counties. It has no paid staff and depends on volunteers interested in community service.
