The Farmer's Market at the Adair Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY is open this Friday morning, August 16, 2012, from 6am-10amCT.

This may be the best Friday morning Farmers Market yet. The weather is great. Come down early and join us.
  • Margie Rooks, Sano, KY - Great Watermelons today. Several sizes. $4-$7. Bell Peppers. Eggplant. Green Onions. Cucumbers. Sweet Banana Peppers. Hot Banana Peppers. Red Tomatoes. A lot of Yellow Tomatoes. Bodacious Corn.
  • Ken Thiery, Edmonton Road, Columbia, KY - Farm Fresh Eggs. Okra. Sweet Peppers. Jalapenos. Red Tomatoes.
  • Holly Kerns, Sano, KY - Tomatoes. Yellow Squash. Cabbage. Peppers. Potatoes. Corn.
  • Prof. Jeff Scott, Antioch, KY Today's Topic: Answering, best I can, "Do they stay together." which seems to be the No. 1 question concerning the cooking qualities of apples. Today we have: Gala, Paula Reds, Ginger Golds, Snow Apples.. Galas are good all around eating and cooking apples. Paula Reds are excellent for cooking and for drying. Snow apples are old timey apples. I only have one tree. These are firm, sweet apples. Nobody has been asking, but no, there are no Ed Waggener Apples today. They are stubbornly hard apples, pretty okay if you've got the dentition to bite into them.

As always, Margie Rooks has a great selection at the Farmers Market, open today from 6am-10amCT, Friday, August 16, 2013, at 409 Fairground Street. Also at the market: Prof. Scott, the Apple Man - but he was about sold out when this photo was taken; Holly Kerns with a great table and Ken Thiery, who has some excellent farm fresh eggs, as pretty a basket of Jalapeno Peppers as you find, and more.
